I am happy to announce that I have qualified for my second Olympic Games after racing at the World Cup in Spain this past weekend. Although I didn’t advance to the semifinal this result was enough to solidify my place at the Games with the points I earned at the Canadian Selections last month. It is an incredibly tough battle every 4 years for just the ONE spot per nation in the Games and I want to commend all of my teammates and especially Ben Hayward and John Hastings for constantly pushing the bar higher for Canadian slalom. Most importantly I am grateful to be able to call them friends on and off the water. I also want to thank my coach Michal Staniszewski for guiding me through these last 4 years and also a HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to Gary Cameron Smedley who crushed it in the C1 today and is qualified for Rio!! Can’t wait to take on Brazil as a part of Team Canada / Équipe Canada! Lastly, big ups to Spencer Pomeroy for getting back on the World Cup start line after a brief retirement!
